state-of-the-art engineering and research. The Structures and
Geohazards Research Group at FM is seeking a creative and
self-motivated Senior Research Scientist with a strong foundation
in wind engineering and a specialized focus on computational wind
engineering (CWE). The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise
in fluid dynamics, high-performance computing, and wind tunnel
testing, along with a demonstrated ability to conduct innovative,
high-impact research. This role is integral to a strategic research
initiative aimed at advancing the understanding of wind-related
hazards and developing effective mitigation strategies. The
successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge projects that
blend computational modeling with experimental validation to
address real-world challenges in wind engineering.
Responsibilities: Develop computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models
to simulate wind flow around buildings and infrastructure,
capturing complex aerodynamic interactions. Analyze wind loading on
structures using high-resolution simulations; validate results with
wind tunnel experiments or field measurements. Collaborate with
interdisciplinary teams to incorporate wind effects into risk
models, design standards, and resilience strategies. Publish and
present research in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific or
industry conferences. Contribute to strategic planning and
innovation in wind engineering research initiatives. PhD degree.
Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Engineering or related fields.
Hands-on experience with CFD software, both open-source (e.g.,
OpenFOAM) and commercial (e.g., ANSYS Fluent). Proficient in
programming languages such as C++, Python, R, MATLAB. Skilled in
high-performance computing (HPC) and parallel computing
environments. Experience with wind tunnel testing or field
measurements is highly desirable. Familiarity with relevant
building codes and standards is a plus. Proven track record of
publishing high-quality research and effectively communicating
complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.Strong
problem-solving abilities, creativity, and the capacity to work
independently as well as collaboratively. The final salary offer
